$500 FastBounty: Order Pizza on your OSD

Once again, it's time for Cash Money for you!
We need an enterprizing Neuros hacker to allow ordering pizzas directly from the OSD. You can port Pizza on Demand from our friends over at AwkwardTV, but you don't have to. To claim the prize you simply have to allow ordering a pizza from Domino's or Jimmy John's directly from the OSD using the remote. Use the emerging QT Based firmware. That reminds me, we desperately need an OdNT posting on that. Nero , Crweb can someone post something on that? Anyone? Anything? Please?

If you are looking for detailed rules, regulations and pages of legal boilerplate to wade through etc, well this contest is not for you. If you want some loose and vague idea of what's going on, look here . Best place for questions is probably #neuros on freenode.net or here if you don't have an IRC client handy.

Samba server is already

Samba server is already working on the osd. Refer to the forum for instructions on how to install it. It is not an official neuros installation, but you may ask questions in the forum if you need help on how to set it up

Priorities

I totally agree that Samba server is way more important that pizzas, in fact, the above doesn't reside anywhere on our internal schedule, it's really just more for fun. The actual schedule is really found in bugzilla with the target dates and prioritization, and it's certainly much more systematic than the blog postings here. Those are fairly random, no question.

need it?

Now this question doesn't pre-suppose the answer... but does the Neuros OSD using community need a pizza ordering app? I'm only speaking personally, which doesn't mean the wider community wouldn't bite your arm off for it, but I don't...

There's a wider question here about how you guys prioritise work and enhancements more generally. Do you have a system? I'm only asking because I don't know, i'm not suggesting you do this randomly at all! :)

It would be great to see you being user-centred. I think the whole OSD approach is a very user-centred one in itself - allowing a community to interact with you is very user-centred; but for example, using user-centred techniques like personas, so that everyone has a really clear picture in their minds of what OSD users need and will warm to might be a helpful exercise.

Personally speaking I'd love to see Samba support in as soon as possible; it would make my life a lot easier - but I'm only one user! :)
