A big thanks to Andrey A. Porodko for submitting a couple recent patches that could get the OSD2 kernel merged with the mainline. For those that don't know what this means, it basically means the OSD2 code would be something that's inherently more current, something that the community would maintain along with the rest of their progress, rather than leaving it behind (as is the case with most traditional embedded devices). This has the potential to make OSD2 hackers lives vastly easier and could breath new life into the platform, let's keep our fingers crossed.
Edit: Andrey mentioned that this post may be a bit misleading. There's still a lot of work to be done before we're mainline and although its looking good, his submitted patches haven't yet even been accepted. The bottom line is that its been a lot of effort that we really appreciate and have high hopes for.
