[11:07] <srobertson> Hey, all.
[11:14] <Eagle_Fire> hi
[11:15] <srobertson> What's the status on the Linux port and app for the 442v2 or N3?
[11:50] <nerochiaro> srobertson: the mailing list have been silent for a while lately. last thing I heard was that they were still testing the dev boards to see if they worked, and Gao and the China team were working on the bootloader, but there were not many news from their side
[11:59] <srobertson> okay, thanks.
[13:34] <AmericanTechpush> Our New website should be ready in a week! ye haw...
[13:41] <srobertson> preview?
[13:57] <AmericanTechpush> sure one momment
[13:57] <AmericanTechpush> please don't share the links
[13:57] <AmericanTechpush> other then the folks here
[13:57] <AmericanTechpush> order system is not complete
[13:59] <AmericanTechpush> www.americantechpushers.com
[13:59] <AmericanTechpush> dont clink on home it will take you back to the live site
[14:23] * Eagle_Fire  haxors it
[14:26] <AmericanTechpush> ?
[14:28] <Eagle_Fire> :)
[14:43] <AmericanTechpush> Any thoughts
[14:45] <Eagle_Fire> still looks a little plain
[14:46] <Eagle_Fire> JoeBorn, got the TiVo and my new 442
[14:46] <Eagle_Fire> was the moneys supposed to be in there too?
[14:47] <AmericanTechpush> plain is what is suppose to be.. going high tech scares people
[14:47] <AmericanTechpush> we need to work on the damm logo
[14:47] <Eagle_Fire> just invert it, should look fine
[14:48] <Eagle_Fire> i think the logo is the only thing that really needs work, come to think of it
[14:48] <Eagle_Fire> also, 468x60 pixel dimension is blocked by many ad blocking scripts :)
[14:48] <Eagle_Fire> probly make AmericanTechpusher logo take up more of the width of the black area
[14:49] <Eagle_Fire> address same size, same alignment
[14:49] <AmericanTechpush> Yup I agree..
[14:49] <AmericanTechpush> Thats the direction, but the designing the logo is the hard thing
[14:49] <AmericanTechpush> needs to be really sharp
[14:49] <AmericanTechpush> not chessey
[14:50] <Eagle_Fire> yeah
[14:50] <Eagle_Fire> that's hard to do
[14:55] <JoeBorn> sorry, stepped away.
[14:56] <JoeBorn> Eagle: I'm not sure, but I would guess that the check would be in a separate envelope
[14:56] <JoeBorn> I'm assuming that the 442 was shipped from the warehouse adn the check would be from the office.
[14:58] <JoeBorn> Eagle: what kind of cable, or satelite service will you be using?
[15:05] <AmericanTechpush> Super quiet on around here and the group board
[15:05] <AmericanTechpush> one here
[15:05] <AmericanTechpush> doh
[15:07] <nerochiaro> yeah, i'm a bit worried by the lack of news in the mailing list on progress of the dev boards
[15:07] <nerochiaro> JoeBorn: you have any updates ?
[15:07] <Eagle_Fire> JoeBorn, basic cable
[15:08] <JoeBorn> nero: not a lot of news on the dev boards.
[15:09] <JoeBorn> Bob is actually out for the week, he got a couple of them up, but there are still problems duplicating it in China
[15:09] <JoeBorn> hmm, not sure what happened there.
[15:09] <nerochiaro> JoeBorn: so the guys in china are stuck at the moment ?
[15:09] <JoeBorn> Bob was out last week
[15:10] <JoeBorn> no, they just go the dev boards that Bob got running, so hopefully in a few hours we'll get a report
[15:10] <JoeBorn> if they were able to duplicate, etc.
[15:10] <JoeBorn> I'll send him an email.
[15:11] <JoeBorn> Eagle: I assume the TiVo tuner works with "basic cable" then?
[15:12] <JoeBorn> there's no kind of scrambling, etc?
[15:12] <Eagle_Fire> yeah
[15:12] <Eagle_Fire> works super
[15:12] <Eagle_Fire> for digital cable / satellite there are special tivo's
[15:12] <JoeBorn> Tivo2go doesn't work with the directvtivo (integrated system)
[15:12] <nerochiaro> JoeBorn: ok, thanks for the info
[15:12] <Eagle_Fire> yeah, i just got the basic tivo
[15:13] <JoeBorn> so my question is, is Tivo2 limited in use with directv or is it just plain worthless?
[15:14] <Eagle_Fire> i believe it comes with remote attachments
[15:14] <Eagle_Fire> so it can control a satellite receiver or digital cable box
[15:15] <Eagle_Fire> and as such should be capable of working with satellite and digital cable
[15:15] <Eagle_Fire> but directivo and comcast PVR probably not
[15:15] <Eagle_Fire> (unless you got a separate TiVo)
[15:18] <JoeBorn> well, I have a question about that IR blaster/remote stuff
[15:18] <JoeBorn> how can it really work without feedback?
[15:18] <Eagle_Fire> what do you mean
[15:18] <JoeBorn> I mean how does the Tivo know if the box is on, etc?
[15:19] <Eagle_Fire> sometimes devices have on-only codes
[15:19] <Eagle_Fire> like the power button but that code will never turn the device off
[15:19] <JoeBorn> I see.
[15:19] <Eagle_Fire> secondly it can check the cable tuner
[15:19] <Eagle_Fire> for example, if channel 3 or 4 is working great but other channels are noisy
[15:20] <Eagle_Fire> it can be reasonably sure an upstream device is on
[15:20] <Eagle_Fire> (likewise for its video inputs)
[15:21] <Eagle_Fire> yeah, it says to use the video inputs for cable boxes
[15:24] <JoeBorn> what is the "it" in the above?
[15:26] <Eagle_Fire> tivo manual
[15:29] <Eagle_Fire> playing with the .tivo now
[15:46] <AmericanTechpush> www.neurosaudio.com
[15:47] <AmericanTechpush> I agree Rev ron some monthly upadats about the projects for the people that don't follow the group board would be a great idea
[15:49] <srobertson> Yeah. Just have a "Current status" table; either sorted by developer or by subproject (442 bootloader, 442 UI, N3 hardware layout, etc). Maybe keep it on OdNT or the wiki, but put a big fat <blink> <marquee> link on NT.com.
[15:51] <srobertson> I tend to believe that it'd be more interesting to do it that way than monthly, because there's more activity than anybody'd think to record. Fundraising "thermometers" make people feel the warm-fuzzies, so a continuous update thing might be wise.
[15:51] <srobertson> Or just make a more prominent link to developers' blogs.
[15:52] <srobertson> I talk too much, considering how much I say.
[15:54] <AmericanTechpush> I think we work an update into our site as well
[15:54] <AmericanTechpush> It just a real good idea
[15:59] <JoeBorn> good idea about the updates, I'll put this one in Gao's corner
[16:03] <JoeBorn> so Eagle, are you using the Tivo instead of the cable box or in addition to in your setup?
[16:15] <Eagle_Fire> i don't have a cable box
[16:15] <Eagle_Fire> basic cable = no extra boxy crap
[16:16] <Eagle_Fire> does 442 have MPEG2 support?
[16:31] <Eagle_Fire> doesn't look like it...
[16:34] <srobertson> JoeBorn: Linux or Rockbox? Which do you favor more ATM?
[17:09] <JoeBorn> no, 442 doesn't have mpeg-2, v2 definately will.
[17:09] <JoeBorn> srobertson, I don't honestly think it's an either or with Rockbox/Linux
[17:09] <JoeBorn> we're clearly going to support Linux on our platform (that's what the platform is built off of.
[17:10] <JoeBorn> Rockbox could replace linux or sit on top of it.
[17:10] <Eagle_Fire> i'd recommend that latter, since 442 will allow games / apps right?
[17:10] <JoeBorn> Once we get those guys a dev board, we can talk about more of the specifics of that.
[17:10] <srobertson> Okay, that's good to know.
[17:10] <JoeBorn> Eagle: yep, I think the latter is more likely
[17:11] <JoeBorn> The Rockbox guys said it's possible, although I don't think they prefer it that way.
[17:11] <JoeBorn> we really haven't had that serious conversation yet.
[17:11] <Eagle_Fire> well, this tivo encoding takes no effort at all to transcode in graphedit
[17:12] <JoeBorn> what's graphedit?
[17:12] <Eagle_Fire> a program that lets you manually construct directshow filter graphs
[17:12] <JoeBorn> oh, gotcha.
[17:12] <JoeBorn> so what format will you ouput to?
[17:12] <Eagle_Fire> probably mpeg4 avi
[17:13] <JoeBorn> I'm really getting excited about this project, I'm going to setup something at home once you figure it all out.
[17:13] <Eagle_Fire> super
[17:13] <Eagle_Fire> hmm, something about how graphedit works makes transcoded video have a lot of dropped frames
[17:14] <JoeBorn> oh. excitement fades :(
[17:14] <Eagle_Fire> gonna have to work on that
[17:14] <Eagle_Fire> fortunately the final product won't use graphedit
[17:14] <JoeBorn> excitement returns
[17:14] <Eagle_Fire> anyhow i'm overdue for a nap
[17:14] <Eagle_Fire> laters
[17:14] <JoeBorn> laters.
[17:15] <srobertson> happy birthdays.
[17:15] <JoeBorn> whos birthday is it?
[17:16] * srobertson  never could get the hang of all those popular greetings ('sup and friends) so he uses totally incorrect expressions to draw attention away from it
[17:16] <srobertson> high school is hell, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise
[17:17] <JoeBorn> well, in my experience, it gets better.
[17:29] <AmericanTechpush> Joe email me the latest time frame on the boards
