[02:35] <ukh> the neuros audio players are no longer sold at all?
[13:59] <JoeBorn> hi all
[18:04] <Eagle_Fire> hello
[18:08] <JoeBorn> howdy
[18:10] <nerochiaro> hey
[18:10] <Eagle_Fire> sup
[18:12] <nerochiaro> not much. i was looking around for T9-like systems to input text into the neuros
[18:12] <nerochiaro> predictive text input
[18:12] <Eagle_Fire> yeah
[18:12] <Eagle_Fire> i recall a system that used corners for input
[18:12] <Eagle_Fire> forget what it was called though
[18:12] <nerochiaro> corners ?
[18:13] <Eagle_Fire> like, the screen is split into 8 regions, left/right/up/down and corners
[18:13] <Eagle_Fire> each of the 8 regions selected some many chars of the alphabet to be assigned to the other regions for the second press
[18:13] <Eagle_Fire> steep learning curve but supposedly quite fast
[18:14] <Eagle_Fire> i'm not sure the neuros products will need much along the line of text input
[18:17] <nerochiaro> well, can be useful for some things. like editing tags on the fly, or inputting times (e.g. for accurate seeking)
[18:18] <nerochiaro> that thing with corners seems a good idea
[18:18] <Eagle_Fire> with a center button you can make a number pad
[18:18] <nerochiaro> with 5 directions, not 8
[18:19] <Eagle_Fire> corners?
[18:19] <Eagle_Fire> l/r/u/d/ul/ur/dl/dr/center
[18:19] <Eagle_Fire> nine
[18:19] <nerochiaro> dl/dr aren't in into the current N2 pad. i seem to understand the N3 pad will be along these lines ?
[18:20] <nerochiaro> ur/ul too, of course
[18:20] <Eagle_Fire> should work
[18:28] <JoeBorn> 442v2 will likely use the same "joystick" or controller scheme as the current, as you know.
[18:28] <Eagle_Fire> yup
[18:28] <JoeBorn> I think text input is pretty important.
[18:28] <JoeBorn> there are a lot of applications that are just not possible without some reasonable text input.
[18:29] <JoeBorn> and I'm not even thinking of PDA type stuff, but more media focused.
[18:29] <Eagle_Fire> seems pretty farfetched with a 4-way dpad and center
[18:29] <Eagle_Fire> with usb-otg you can add a keyboard if you really need one
[18:29] <JoeBorn> my garmin GPS does it and its reasonable for small things.
[18:29] <JoeBorn> it's still better than having to name recordings at the PC.
[18:29] <Eagle_Fire> i think a 2-dimensional letter array should be fine for most things
[18:30] <JoeBorn> right.
[18:30] <JoeBorn> that's what the GPS uses.
[18:30] <JoeBorn> still haven't gotten my Tivo on the home network yet.
[18:30] <Eagle_Fire> you could have a 25-letter 5x5 grid, where most-used letters are in the center
[18:31] <Eagle_Fire> why not? too difficult?
[18:31] <JoeBorn> I don't know, maybe my home network is screwed up. I'm using a netgear adapter that's on the Tivo approved list.
[18:31] <Eagle_Fire> i use a netgear too
[18:31] <JoeBorn> it sees the access point, but can't get to the network
[18:31] <Eagle_Fire> oh, i use ethernet
[18:32] <Eagle_Fire> i figured wireless would be too slow xfering episodes
[18:32] <JoeBorn> I'm thinking DHCP isn't working right for some reason.
[18:32] <Eagle_Fire> does it give you a specific error message
[18:32] <JoeBorn> well apparantly the bottleneck isn't at the bandwidth.
[18:32] <JoeBorn> I think it uses 11mbps USB anyhow.
[18:33] <Eagle_Fire> well you'll be lucky to get 11mbps over a wireless network either
[18:33] <JoeBorn> I'll let you know when I try again. I'm going to try manually set the IP and DNS and if that doesn't work, I'll take some notes on what it says.
[18:33] <JoeBorn> ok, off to dinner
[18:33] <Eagle_Fire> enjoy
[18:36] <nerochiaro> JoeBorn: still there ?
[18:36] <nerochiaro> oh well, i'm off to sleep then. bye
[18:37] <Eagle_Fire> bye
[19:13] <JoeBorn> I'm back for a minute
[20:23] <Eagle_Fire> hi
[23:54] <JoeBorn> does anyone understand the structure of a DVD?
[23:55] <JoeBorn> ifo, vob files
[23:55] <JoeBorn> empty audio directories
[23:55] <JoeBorn> Video_ts files
