[10:10] <JoeBorn> hi all
[10:10] <nerochiaro> hej
[10:11] <JoshMalone> hey Joe
[10:13] <vmarks> hej!
[10:20] <JoeBorn> hows everybody doin?
[10:21] <nerochiaro> pretty sleepy, it's a depressing day
[10:23] <JoeBorn> weather?
[10:25] <nerochiaro> yeah, gray as the bottom of a bucket. plus some very annoying and terribly boring problem with this piece of dotnet crap i'm working at right now
[10:25] <nerochiaro> they don't make a good combination
[10:39] <nerochiaro> vmarks: got the notes and shots of the epg mockup ?
[10:58] <vmarks> got em.
[12:16] <crweb> weather is amazing here
[12:16] * crweb  is heading out for golf
[14:26] <JoeBorn> what should we talk about at the next meeting ?
[14:26] <JoeBorn> in about 30 hours I guess.
[14:28] <nerochiaro> well, given that there have been very little activity lately, with the team being on vacation and all that... i have no idea
[14:57] <JoeBorn> well I posted something, I'd like to finish out the instructions for the dev stuff
[14:57] <JoeBorn> speaking of which, I need to pick up some cat5 cables, etc to wire up my house.
[14:58] <JoeBorn> alternatively, how hard is it to make an AP into a bridge?
[14:58] <JoeBorn> is that something I have to flash the whole firmware or is that something supported by APs out of the box?
[15:37] <sourcerror> JoeBorn: FYI, nerochiaro and I discussed some simplification of how i18n is done. nerochiaro had great idea to use gettext() which is already part of the current OSD build! Important stuff but probably a little boring for the meeting. I'm need to a little more experimenting then will post a thread on the mail list.
[15:38] <nerochiaro> if Gao will be around i think it's a good time to propose that idea to him
[15:40] <sourcerror> nerochiaro: I'll try to do the other experimenting before then. time is a little short though... got birthday celebration going on tonight (not mine).
[15:41] <nerochiaro> well, it's worth discussing with him anyway, you can do the rest of the experiments later. it's better you have a good party, instead :)
[15:44] <sourcerror> I'll try to do the simplest expeirment of creating the binary file and getting gettext to locate it in the filesystem. Then I'll have some confidence in the proposal.
[15:44] <nerochiaro> good
[15:45] <nerochiaro> derobert: you around ?
[15:47] <sgomes> hi all
[15:47] <nerochiaro> hi
[15:47] <sgomes> hi nerochiaro
[15:51] <crweb> yo
[15:52] <sgomes> hi crweb
[15:52] * crweb  is boxing up a years worth of dead hard drives to send back for warranty replacement :)
[15:53] <nerochiaro> how high is the body count ?
[15:53] <crweb> 7
[15:53] <nerochiaro> bad year eh ?
[15:53] <crweb> 3 ata100, 1 ata 133, and 3 sata
[15:53] <crweb> yeah
[15:54] <crweb> when i get them all back, I dunno where i'll beable to put them
[15:54] <crweb> but they'll work.
[15:54] <crweb> i tend to just upgrade when they die
[15:55] <nerochiaro> you can put my addresson the return address of one of them if you don't know what to do with them ;)
[15:55] <crweb> 80gig main sata drive died, replaced with 320gig
[15:55] <crweb> 80 gig hardly seems worth putting back in the machine
[15:55] <crweb> i could use it for /home, but then I'd just fill it and still have 200 gig on the /
[15:56] <crweb> i lost a 120gig with many tv episodes including all of Lost, and The Office 2 days ago..
[15:57] <crweb> irony at its bet
[15:57] <crweb> best
[16:04] <nerochiaro> crweb: aw, you can't really backup that stuff though
[16:05] <crweb> i tried once
[16:05] <crweb> I've got 4 200 disc cd folders full of burned dvd's
[16:05] <crweb> of just tivo content
[16:06] <daurnimator> i have 2 sata drives that were in a jbod array that have missing partition tables, and i can't get the data off the second one.
[16:06] <crweb> daurnimator: partition tables are no problem
[16:06] <daurnimator> the second drive has every console game pre PSX
[16:06] <crweb> gparted
[16:06] <daurnimator> gparted worked on the first drive, not the second
[16:07] <crweb> when I just had to recover, i used this tool i can't remember what its called
[16:07] <crweb> pulls files off without partition data
[16:07] <crweb> i had deleted the partition table by mistake
[16:08] <crweb> then bout this program to recover the data
[16:08] <crweb> bought
[16:08] <crweb> I recovered it, and transfered it from firewire drive -> usb drive
[16:08] <daurnimator> brb
[16:09] <crweb> i had used the mv command
[16:09] <crweb> machine locked up. So when i rebooted i rm -rf the data from the usb drive to start over cause mv usually doesn't delete the files until they are fully copied
[16:09] <crweb> and it had actually fully moved
[16:09] <crweb> ext3 you can't undelete from.. so..
[16:09] <crweb> i lost 265gigs of audio
[16:10] <crweb> R-Studio
[16:10] <crweb> the recovery software worked great though
[16:13] <nerochiaro> what you guys think of monitoring the neuros SVN with CIA
[16:13] <nerochiaro> ?
[16:15] <crweb> whats cia?
[16:15] <nerochiaro> cia.navi.cx
[16:15] <nerochiaro> tracks activity on OSS projects and does interesting statistics
[16:15] <nerochiaro> commit activity
[16:17] <daurnimator> we could
[16:17] <daurnimator> oh well, i'm going to goto school
[16:17] <daurnimator> i'm really sick, but i've hardly been for 2 weeks
[16:17] <nerochiaro> i posted in ML about that. if anyone is interested please add your opinion so the admins will do that
[16:17] <daurnimator> already missed 1st period
[16:18] <nerochiaro> daurnimator: have good school
[16:18] <daurnimator> nerochiaro: you working for neuros paid?
[16:18] <nerochiaro> not yet
[16:18] <nerochiaro> hopefullly very soon
[16:21] <daurnimator> well done with that ;)
[16:21] <daurnimator> going to move to usa? :P
[16:21] <nerochiaro> nah, the USA are overrated ;)
[16:21] <nerochiaro> plus if i had to move somewhere, that would be china
[16:35] <daurnimator> ok, cyas
[20:40] <daurnimator> damn
[20:40] <daurnimator> had to come home
[22:26] <crazy6> so, people talk about msp430 programming a lot in here?
[22:42] <natetrue> i would not call it 'a lot' by any means
[22:42] <natetrue> the neuros OSD contains an MSP430 but the source is closed and we do not speak of it
[22:44] <RobbieVantafario> Yo
[23:21] <Inc> img470.imageshack.us << graffiti at its best
[23:36] <may1937> hah! good one
[23:38] <daurnimator> lol
[23:40] <crazy6> or www.flickr.com
[23:41] <may1937> not bad, but the other get more points for ragging on cops
[23:42] <Inc> crazy6: yeah, I put that one on my blog the other day
[23:42] <Inc> inc-omplete.org
[23:42] <eigma> it just got facebook'ed
[23:42] <Inc> check out the second one down
[23:42] <eigma> Inc: haha your web site crashed IE
[23:43] <may1937> eigma: that's a feature
[23:43] <eigma> that's not saying much, though..
[23:43] <eigma> hehe
[23:43] <crazy6> so, I know I asked before, but then my connection crappe dout... searching on google, I found a lot of references to MSP430 programming in here... does anyone do msp430 programming?
[23:44] <may1937> oh yeah
[23:44] <Inc> haha, eigma good deal :) that's how I roll
[23:44] <Inc> I put javascript in
[23:44] <Inc> that if someone tries to open it up in IE
[23:44] <Inc> BAM!
[23:44] <Inc> actually, I didn't ;)
[23:44] <eigma> you're kidding
[23:44] <eigma> hehe
[23:45] <Inc> eigma: ie 6?
[23:45] <eigma> yes
[23:45] <may1937> crazy6: not for neuros but yeah i have used the little guys before
[23:45] <Inc> ah, that's probably why
[23:45] <eigma> crazy6: I haven't touched the MSP430, but what are you trying to do? maybe there's general uC help I could offer
[23:45] <Inc> i'm not even going to bother supporting IE6
[23:45] <Inc> get a real browser bro
[23:46] <eigma> oh, I'm not asking..
[23:46] <crazy6> may1937: would you know how to do something like, say, run an LED off PWM to controll the brightness? I am playing with that cheap ez430 kit
[23:46] <may1937> Inc: you're supposed to offer him a nickel first... "here's a nickel kid, get yourself a better browser"
[23:46] <eigma> Inc: yeah yeah.. everyone says that
[23:46] <Inc> may1937: haha
[23:46] <Inc> eigma: at least get IE7
[23:46] <Inc> well if everyone says it
[23:46] <eigma> ...it must be true? :)
[23:46] <Inc> 'everyone' must not be 'wrong'
[23:47] <Inc> if everyone said to jump of a cliff
[23:47] <Inc> hell yeah I'd do it
[23:47] <eigma> free beer at the bottom, I bet
[23:47] <may1937> i'd be the last one so a goodly pile of bodies piles up first
[23:47] <may1937> crazy6: you mean like hardware pwm? i can't remember i'd have to check the datasheet to see it if is supported, but certainly you can just do pwm with a gpio line
[23:47] <Inc> may1937: exactly, just bounce of the fattys and you will be safe
[23:47] <eigma> point is.. I do actually use FF.. I've just been forgetting to set as default handler for http:// ... for 3 months now
[23:47] <Inc> that's how I roll
[23:48] <Inc> it's like a trampoline
[23:48] <may1937> Inc: that's how you bounce
[23:48] <crazy6> may1937: well, I think I could do a busy-wait PWM, probably. But I am trying to use the timer to do it
[23:48] <eigma> though, IE is faster; and I can save more screen realestate
[23:48] <crazy6> becasue I guess thats the "more right" way
[23:48] <Inc> may1937: exactly :)
[23:48] <Inc> eigma: I want some of whatever you are smoking
[23:48] <Inc> don't hold out on me bro
[23:48] <eigma> haha
[23:49] <may1937> crazy6: sure timer would work
[23:49] <Inc> in any case, I thought I'd drop in for shits 'n giggles and to convert IE users
[23:49] <Inc> I failed on the last point
[23:49] <Inc> so I must go to sleep
[23:49] <crazy6> may1937: yeah, well, my questions are kind of specific.. like is an interrupt thrown when the timer counts up to the value I set inthe compar register?
[23:49] <Inc> 'nighteo
[23:49] <eigma> cya
[23:50] <may1937> crazy6: depends on how you set the timer up. you have a datasheet, right?
[23:50] <crazy6> may1937: yes, but it is a little complicated and I'm inexperienced
[23:50] <crazy6> should I link you to the user's guide?
[23:51] <may1937> i have the x1xx one here, is that what you are using?
[23:51] <crazy6> no, 2013
[23:51] <may1937> sure go ahead
[23:51] <may1937> i can't stick around too long but maybe i can give you a couple pointers
[23:51] <crazy6> www.ti.com specific chip datasheet
[23:51] <crazy6> ah ok
[23:51] <crazy6> that'd be helpful
[23:52] <crazy6> and the user's guide, which is more descriptive as a whole: www.ti.com
[23:53] <may1937> yeah that's the juicy one
[23:53] <crazy6> do I want CCIE ? TAIE ?
[23:56] <eigma> quick Google search for "msp430 pwm" turned up some useful resources... manufacturer's application notes are also usually pretty interesting
[23:56] <crazy6> yeah, there is a code for motor control with PWM (which I want to de eventually), but its in assembly
[23:56] <crazy6> which is even more confusing!
[23:57] <may1937> yeah ti loves their asm
[23:57] <crazy6> and they all use their devices hooked up directly to the timer pin
[23:57] <crazy6> whereas I want to use this with an already made board
[23:57] <crazy6> so I need interrupts to turn the LED on and off
[23:58] <eigma> oh, I see
[23:58] * eigma  goes back into hibernation
[23:58] <may1937> yeah i don't think you want capture mode
[23:58] <may1937> take a look at page 173, that is what you want, right? count up to the TACCR0 value?
[23:59] <crazy6> yeah, I think so. But I want it to throw an interrupt when it gets to a certian value, too
