[01:17] <JoeyBorn> hi all
[01:18] <American-Tech> hi
[01:41] <crweb> qt is working great
[01:41] <crweb> i've got a nice music player/frontend to nms in the works
[01:41] <daurn> reckon you could get this working somehow?: www.qbittorrent.org
[01:41] <daurn> i think we can get rtorrent going really well fairly easily
[01:42] <daurn> but qbittorrent gives us a gui
[01:42] <crweb> rtorrent is a good idea
[01:42] <crweb> however, torrents assume a lot of things.. A.) you have someplace to store the data
[02:28] <JoeBorn> crweb: hows it going?
[02:31] <American-Tech> so what happend with soc?
[02:33] <JoeBorn> well, we just applied a hair late, and they made a special exception, but it took them a hair longer to post it.
[02:35] <American-Tech> thats cool
[02:36] <American-Tech> On a side not I thought summer of crumbs had a nice ring to it
[02:36] <JoeBorn> well, it's certainly funny anyway.
[02:36] <JoeBorn> I'm not sure how enthused I'd be about it if I was an intern that had to list it on my resume :)
[02:39] <American-Tech> No doubt
[02:40] <American-Tech> Your video on the remote is somthing we are considering doing, I never seen a commercial web site that has video explaining the product at hand.
[02:41] <JoeBorn> yeah, you can do a bunch of them youtube style with no effort at all.
[02:41] <JoeBorn> we've been talking about doing videos for years, and of course we never do it.
[02:41] <American-Tech> Well we have to put some effort in to it
[02:42] <JoeBorn> so I figured, I'll just do a youtube style, the heck with it.
[02:42] <JoeBorn> at least now we have something up.
[02:42] <daurn> JoeBorn
[02:42] <daurn> what do you think of bittorrent?
[02:42] <daurn> how would people interface with it?
[02:42] <daurn> where do you download stuff TO
[02:43] <American-Tech> Well we use the Youtube for sure
[02:43] <JoeBorn> well whatever external storage you'd otherwise use.
[02:44] <American-Tech> Just an idea
[03:05] <American-Tech> I hate to ask, If you had to quess when do you think the osd is ready for Primetime?
[03:07] <JoeBorn> well, I guess first before *I* answer I'll throw the question back to you.
[03:08] <JoeBorn> have you used the latest firmware?
[03:09] <American-Tech> I have never played with joe. I wanted a clear one but never got one and when I had one sent for myself we take a order for it and I just send it out.
[03:10] <JoeBorn> oh, interesting.
[03:10] <American-Tech> I orderd 4 times for myself
[03:10] <JoeBorn> when?
[03:12] <American-Tech> Various time after Christmas.. I even orderd 3 at one point but of course we took orders for them overseas and I just sent them out
[03:16] <American-Tech> I have one here That has to go out, but I am tempted to break it open
[03:22] <JoeBorn> well, in many ways it's in pretty good shape, I use my various ones every day.
[03:22] <JoeBorn> It's almost a must have for Lily's chinese lessons.
[03:23] <JoeBorn> and it's ideal for "watching TV on the plane" so to speak.
[03:23] <JoeBorn> these back and forth flights to shanghai give some time to catch up on TV :)
[03:26] <American-Tech> I lost my 442 on the vegas trip but I wanted to start recording stuff again. Do you have all the lessons for your daughter?
[03:26] <JoeBorn> yeah, we put a bunch of videos of various sources along with the video recordings from her lessons.
[03:27] <JoeBorn> and play them all back on the OSD.
[03:27] <JoeBorn> without that it'd be virtually impossible.
[03:27] <JoeBorn> I'd have some stack of DVDs, VCR tapes, it just wouldn't work.
[03:28] <American-Tech> So all recordings are in one location then
[03:29] <JoeBorn> exactly
[03:29] <American-Tech> Can they be accessed remotely
[03:29] <JoeBorn> and I also used it for recording from various sources.
[03:29] <JoeBorn> videocamera, some were on VCR tapes, etc
[03:30] <JoeBorn> well depends on the setup. At my folks house, I have it setup so the OSD records and plays back from a NAS device
[03:30] <JoeBorn> that device has an ftp server, etc.
[03:30] <JoeBorn> so I can access that stuff from anywhere.
[03:31] <JoeBorn> I'm eagerly awaiting crweb 's work to consolidate all that NAS stuff, or I guess I should say get it to the point we can include in official release
[03:31] <American-Tech> I thought so but I wanted to make sure I understood that question
[03:32] <American-Tech> That is the feature I am most looking forward to
[03:34] <American-Tech> With any luck I get set up in time for the Head-fi trip in April
[03:35] <American-Tech> I like to learn some basic Chinese :)
[03:36] <JoeBorn> sure, video is a great way to do it, I'm happy to help :)
[03:36] <JoeBorn> when is the head-fi trip again?
[03:36] <American-Tech> april 21-22
[03:36] <American-Tech> let me check
[03:36] <American-Tech> yup that is the date
[03:38] <American-Tech> looking forward to the event
[03:39] <crweb> i'm waiting for a few samba details to be worked out for the new release, then we'll be good to go
[03:39] <American-Tech> Hi Cred
[03:39] <American-Tech> Hi crweb
[03:40] <American-Tech> Well if you have any those videos that teach that would be great.
[03:40] <JoeBorn> wow you are really quite the nightowl, crweb
[03:41] <American-Tech> smart people those night owls
[03:41] <crweb> i was napping on the coutch watching the venture brothers dvd's
[03:41] <crweb> fell asleep readinga bout the dsp
[03:42] <crweb> I really want to make a codec that runs on the dsp
[03:43] <crweb> i really wish i could see the source for at least one ingenient kernel module
[03:44] <crweb> i just want to learn how they load them, and make use of the dsp
[03:46] <crweb> could be better not to see it though
[03:46] <crweb> will make me come up with my own solution for loading codecs/software onto the dsp.
[03:46] <crweb> one that flows better with how linux and multimedia applications actually work.
[03:47] <crweb> oh well :) night :)
[03:48] <American-Tech> night
[03:50] <American-Tech> are those chinese lessons on your ftp to download?
[03:50] <JoeBorn> we have an ogg decoder for the dsp
[03:50] <JoeBorn> you know that don't you crweb ?
[03:51] <JoeBorn> American-Tech: no they are not, but I can put them there when I get back to the US.
[03:51] <American-Tech> Thats cool
[03:53] <American-Tech> Is there document that tells how to update the firmware on the OSD?
[03:54] <JoeBorn> open.neurostechnology.com
[03:55] <American-Tech> thanks
[03:55] <American-Tech> Now to find that memory card
[05:38] <hellwolf> JoeBorn, are you around
[05:58] <American-Tech> He is in and out
[07:10] <JoeBorn> I'm back
[07:10] <JoeBorn> hellwolf: still there?
[07:11] <hellwolf> JoeBorn, hi
[07:11] <JoeBorn> I'm just looking at your project.
[07:12] <hellwolf> Most of things still in my box, haven't check in yet
[07:13] <JoeBorn> that's ok, the deadline is the 24th
[07:14] <JoeBorn> I don't think I can access it.
[07:14] <JoeBorn> I just shows a black student application form
[07:14] <JoeBorn> sorry blank
[07:14] <hellwolf> Try this : code.google.com
[07:14] <hellwolf> 40gmail.com%3A64aee88f%3Ac383aeb6
[07:14] <hellwolf> sorry
[07:15] <hellwolf> Try this : code.google.com
[07:16] <JoeBorn> maybe only the mentors can see it?
[07:21] <hellwolf> I've no idea. And I open the Neuros Page on GSoC, it tells me " Current Projects
[07:21] <hellwolf> This Organization has not been assigned any Projects yet."
[07:28] <JoeBorn> :(
[07:33] <JoeBorn> ok off for ???
[07:34] <JoeBorn> hellwolf can explain :)
[07:37] <hellwolf> JoeBorn, a kind of noodle. The chef held a dough (??) on left hand, and use knife to cut it into pieces. :D
[07:39] <vmarks> morning.
[07:40] <hellwolf> JoeBorn, He cuts it directly into cookpot. Eh... hard to explain it in english, if you want to eat it, you'd better to see how it was made
[07:41] <vmarks> I need to get around to upgrading the firmware, just to see the interface changes.
[07:45] <vmarks> JoeBorn: I can't comment on that page. weird.
[09:43] <sorune> nerochiaro: crweb: Is there a user script location on the OSD? I'd like to run a mount script on boot. Note that I'm not booting off the network. Something like /mnt/OSD/rc.user would be nice.
[10:54] <Hostile> does 0.84 have the new vendor codecs or no?
[10:57] <sorune> Hostile: Isn't that the 3.28 designation?
[10:57] <Hostile> oh. probably. so that would mean it does not =\
[10:58] <sorune> I think that's correct, but not 100% sure.
[10:59] <Hostile> That would make sense wouldn't it lol
[11:05] <sorune> Yeah, so that probably means it's not right. :)
[11:05] <Hostile> haha yeah seriously
[17:56] <sourcerror> sorune: look at "/etc/init.d/mainsetup". You will see it checks for "/tmp/media/OSD/rc.user" and executes it
[17:56] <sourcerror> ...during boot
[18:04] <sorune> sourcerror: hmmm... that looks like it would work, except it is deleted on a reboot (at least with 0.84)
[18:05] <sorune> oops, forgot I backed down to 0.63 (can you confirm this works with 0.84?)
[18:08] <crweb> its suppose to be /mnt/OSD/rc.user
[18:14] <sorune> ok, should i enter a bug report?
[18:25] <crweb> i'll just patch it
[18:29] <JoeBorn> AFAIK, .84 has the new vendor codecs
[18:29] <JoeBorn> 3.28 is something else
[18:30] <JoeBorn> has to do with non DM320 code or hw revisions or something like that
[18:30] <sorune> crweb: great, thanks!
[18:33] <crweb> web google groups doesn't allow us to post attachements...
[18:33] <crweb> that really pisses me off..
[18:34] <pb100> Does neuros-osd-tar.bz2 contain all the needed libraries for custom C/C++ development?
[18:35] <sorune> JoeBorn: do you get release notes with the new codecs that could be posted publicly?
[18:38] <crweb> heh.. they keep fighting me for my requirements for the samba server
[18:38] <crweb> tmpfs started at 32k I needed it raised to 512k to do everything i need
[18:38] <crweb> that lasted about 4 hours and they lowered it to 256k, and then this release, its all the way down to 64k
[18:39] <crweb> it'll be back to 32k and then I'll have to start all over again.
[18:43] <sorune> maybe you could use /mnt/OSD and have startup scripts to clean things up?
[18:44] <crweb> sorune: can you help me out real quick
[18:45] <sorune> maybe
[18:45] <crweb> sorune: read /etc/fstab and see what it says for size= on the tempfs line
[18:45] <sorune> 32k on 0.63
[18:45] <crweb> oh
[18:45] <sorune> i don't like 0.84 much
[18:45] <crweb> i need 0.84
[18:53] <sorune> oh my goodness
[18:54] <sorune> apparently somebody with the beryl or xgl development think shift-backspace should restart the x-server :(
[18:54] <sorune> all this time i thought it was just buggy, but it's actually a feature
[18:59] <sorune> well, in case anybody cares... customisinglife.wordpress.com
[19:02] <srobertson> it's a *feature*? wow, that's... shortsighted
[19:03] <sorune> yeah, i was just about to go back to doing without xgl/beryl
[19:04] <sorune> then i realized that it was always happening when i was hitting backspace :)
[19:04] <sorune> and held the shift key too long
[19:05] <sorune> that's got to be the most brain damaged shortcut i've ever heard of :)
[20:36] <crweb> sorune: patch was accepted
[20:36] <JoeBorn> woohoo
[20:38] <crweb> JoeBorn: the admin of the google soc needs to authorize my mentor request
[20:38] <crweb> still says i'm pending
[20:39] <JoeBorn> yeah, that's a known bug
[20:39] <vmarks> hi JoeBorn
[20:40] <JoeBorn> vmarks: hello
[20:41] <crweb> Hello jwu
[20:42] <jwu> crweb: hello
[20:45] <crweb> and peterqiu hello!
[20:50] <American-Tech> hiddy ho
[20:51] <peterqiu> Crweb, Hello.
[20:52] <crweb> terry and mgao show up and I'll start to worry the internal team is trying to take back the neuros channel ;)
[20:52] <pb100> anyone familiar with development on the VM?
[20:52] <crweb> How is development today?
[20:53] <crweb> pb100: depends on what you mean by familiar..
[20:53] <crweb> I've used it a few times...
[20:54] <jwu> crweb: why do you worry about that?
[20:55] <peterqiu> Is the OdNt drpual setup by you, Crweb? It is excellent.
[20:55] <pb100> crweb, I am running Neuros Development.vmx, and I can compile simple 'Hello World' kind of apps, but I can't interface with anything that requires the Cooler libs. I don't have the needed headers 'client-nms.h, nmsplugin.h...'. I am just wondering about the best way to load them.
[20:57] <crweb> jwu: it was sarcasm.
[20:57] <crweb> jwu: no, actually it was a joke
[20:57] <crweb> peterqiu: no, I'm not sure who set it up. I know Xorlev has something to do with it though
[20:58] <crweb> pb100: ah, yeah.. those are details that are coming soon.. heh
[20:58] <Xorlev> I didn't setup Drupal. It was there when I came.
[20:58] <crweb> pb100: i'm actually going to be researching that more this week, and hopefully get some usable packages out soon
[20:59] <crweb> pb100: you can of course manually copy them in
[20:59] <crweb> pb100: and the .so's are in /srv/neuros-osd-rootfs/lib
[21:00] <pb100> crweb, yeah, I noticed the .so's are available. I was able to find headers on svn, I just didn't know about the 'cleanest' way to do it.
[21:00] <crweb> pb100: that cleanest way to do it is the majority of the debate, and the delay
[21:01] <pb100> crewb, I am currently downloading neuros-osd.tar.bz2, are the .h files going to be there?
[21:01] <crweb> i don't know what neuros-osd.tar.bz2 is
[21:01] <pb100> it's from the tarballs.
[21:01] <crweb> oh
[21:02] <crweb> yeah, there will be some in there. They may not match the .so's completely, but should be good enough to hold you over.
[21:02] <crweb> err, actually, they are all in there
[21:03] <pb100> crwen, cool! Thanks a bunch.
[21:03] <crweb> pb100: the refactoring of osdmain/cooler will help the inclusion of the headers and libs very much
[21:03] <peterqiu> Crweb: when upload the file which more than 8M, maybe cause problem. We have upload several times but can not success. Is it a bug of drupal? Thanks!
[21:03] <crweb> peterqiu: i hear that it is a bug of drupal
[21:03] <peterqiu> Crweb: I get it. Thanks!
[21:04] <crweb> though, i do wonder if maybe in the admin settings somewhere if there is a max file size set
[21:04] <pb100> crweb, thanks for everything.
[21:04] <crweb> if so, maybe it can be raised. Xorlev?
[21:05] <Xorlev> Max file upload size might be PHP. I can check it
[21:06] <crweb> Xorlev: i see in the drupal docs it can be set
[21:06] <crweb> ; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
[21:06] <crweb> upload_max_filesize = 100M
[21:06] <crweb> post_max_size = 200M
[21:06] <Xorlev> Yeah, that's what I meant by PHP.
[21:06] <crweb> ah
[21:06] <JoeBorn> peterqiu: DeepB setup drupal, but zorlev is maintaining it nowdays
[21:07] <Xorlev> Alrighty, I changed the max upload size with PHP. Give it a try
[21:07] <crweb> peterqiu: might be fixed
[21:08] <crweb> Xorlev: what was it set to?
[21:08] <Xorlev> Er wait a sec
[21:08] <crweb> hah.. yeah.. that wasn't pretty
[21:09] <Xorlev> I'm not sure what it was originally set to, but I overrode it in the .htaccess
[21:09] <crweb> peterqiu: if you could, give it a try now
[21:35] <peterqiu> Crweb,Xorlev: Thanks for your great suppot. I are meeting, I'll try one moment later.
[22:28] <sourcerror> sorune, crweb: is /mnt/OSD really wiped on a reboot? I'm on 0.73 and it doesn't. Maybe it is cleaned on FW upgrade or when FW changes partition sizes?
[22:31] <sorune> sourcerror: /mnt/OSD isn't wiped, but the mainsetup script is looking for rc.user in /tmp/media/OSD which is wiped
[22:33] <sourcerror> ah yea. I use /mnt/OSD but haven't used /tmp/media/OSD/rc.user :) thanks!
[22:34] <sourcerror> ...i was thinking they were symbolic links to same place.
[22:35] <sorune> it looks like they were at one time (the ln -sf is commented out in that mainsetup script)
[22:46] <sourcerror> aha.
[22:51] <vmarks> ,,,
[23:11] <Ru> hi all !!!
[23:12] <JoeBorn> hello
[23:12] <sourcerror> hi Ru
[23:13] <Ru> today im finished with russian localisation
[23:13] <JoeBorn> wow, great
[23:13] <Ru> ye its works fine, no problem
[23:14] <Ru> but, i cannot read filenames in russian
[23:14] <Ru> what i need to do?
[23:18] <sourcerror> Ru: were you talking to nerochiaro about this?
[23:18] <Ru> no, just finished.
[23:19] <Ru> and hebrew too ;)
[23:20] <sourcerror> Cool. I'm not sure the context, but I see in the IRC logs a conversation you were having with nerochiaro.
[23:21] <Ru> yes , and now its works
[23:22] <sourcerror> how did you end up doing it? changing source code?
[23:23] <Ru> yes, some files in cooler, plugins ,and main app
[23:24] <Ru> in i18n added some new languages and phrasetexts
[23:26] <sourcerror> That's great! FYI: I was actually looking into i18n support and doing it with the GNU gettext API. If they switched to that your stuff is still used but will go into language files.
[23:27] <Ru> ok
[23:27] <sourcerror> have you heard of gettext?
[23:28] <sourcerror> GNU gettext: www.gnu.org
[23:28] <Ru> yes , but no too mutch
[23:29] <sourcerror> anyway, you should post your stuff in the mail list and I bet they will happily include it!
[23:29] <Ru> ok
[23:29] <sourcerror> I wish I was multilingual. I learned some Spanish but don't remember much.
[23:30] <Ru> i know russian ukranian belarussian polish hebrew and little bit english
[23:31] <sourcerror> wow!
[23:31] <Ru> all these language i can translate to osd ;)
[23:32] <sourcerror> is hebrew one of those languages that is written right to left?
[23:32] <Ru> yes
[23:33] <sourcerror> did you handle that for the OSD?
[23:33] <sourcerror> or do you just reverse letters?
[23:34] <Ru> just reverse for now
[23:34] <sourcerror> yea.
[23:35] <Ru> ok need to check some options with rtl support and implementation
[23:35] <Ru> but russian nope
[23:35] <Ru> now i need language support for filenames
[23:36] <Ru> but dont know how to do it
[23:36] <sourcerror> why is that different?
[23:37] <Ru> all my files on computer have russian names, and with osd i cant read names...
[23:38] <sourcerror> so when it lists the files it doesn't show in the russian font?
[23:38] <Ru> dosen't
[23:39] <sourcerror> hmm.
[23:39] <Ru> ????????.avi like this
[23:40] <sourcerror> I don't have any good ideas for you
[23:41] <sourcerror> but I understand what you mean.
[23:41] <Ru> maybe its no charmap for russian fonts in system
[23:43] <Ru> i tried to enable all iso standarts for russian in dm320 cinfiguration
[23:43] <Ru> witout any results
[23:43] <Ru> its enabled, but still ??????
[23:44] <Ru> ok, thank u, i need to go. i'll be back soon.
[23:44] <sourcerror> hmm. I don't know.
[23:44] <sourcerror> great work! talk to you later.
