I'm seeing weird behavior with my USB drive after having it attached for many hours. Simply power-cycling the USB drive seems to resolve the issue for me right now

so if you have it set to a proper clock (by rdate), which would be in UTC, such that the files it creates on NFS are correct time, then the whole unit is in UTC.

i don't know why , but it seems that your terminal is attached to some application instead of getting you a login console. and when you press ESC you force that app to restart

i ask because some ancient versions were attaching the console to the window server and you had to kill it with ctrl+c before getting a login console
