[04:21]	<nerochiaro>	playing in the browser would require the OSD to stream out the movie in some streaming format, by transcoding on the fly. i don't think it has the power to do that

[18:34]	<vmarks>	MattJ, I made a bootable linux CD that runs mt-daapd, smbd, and upnpav server (ushare) - the point being, take a spare PC, boot the disc, connect a usb drive with media on it. point the mt-daapd and ushare to it, and serve video to OSD and music to rhythmbox or itunes with ease.

It needs a small script that runs at boot, sniffs dmesg for the usb drive, and auto configures the ushare for the proper ethX adapter based on ifconfig, but other than that? done. currently, I link to the firefox pages for configuring that, with shortcuts on the desktop.
