[16:44] <irisa2> hello
[17:59] <JZA> hi anyone can help me setup my neuros OSD I got a couple of questions
[18:00] <JZA> basically I been using it as a player and is working fine but now I have the need to record
[18:00] <JZA> the conection so far is simple:
[18:00] <JZA> TV --> DVD
[18:00] <JZA> |--> NeurosOSD
[18:04] <JZA> anyone?
[18:06] <JZA> nerochiaro: can you help me out setting up the NeurosOSD?
[18:07] <JZA> basically what I need is to know how to record the video (supposely get the video source on input) but since is cable TV how exactly can I set it up
[18:49] <JZA1> anyone here?
[18:50] <JZA1> I'm trying to have a live recording
[18:50] <JZA1> of the tv
[18:50] <JZA1> but I'm not able to get a display
[18:51] <JZA1> the setup is the following
[18:52] <JZA1> coaxial goes to tv then tv output1 goes to home theatre and output2 goes to osd2
[18:53] <JZA1> err osd IN
[19:25] <MP0> JZA1, what's the problem?
[19:26] <MP0> if your video source is on the INput of the OSD, you should be able to record it.
[19:28] <JZA> MP0: except i am not
[19:28] <JZA> MP0: I get static
[19:28] <MP0> alright, so what is on the input of the OSD?
[19:28] <JZA> I am not sure if its my TV setup or what, but I got something like this.
[19:29] <JZA> OSD connects to the TV input and output
[19:29] <JZA> TV has 2 output channels and 4 inputs
[19:29] <MP0> I'm not familiar with TVs that have output channels... how do those work?
[19:29] <MP0> (the TVs I'm familiar with are only inputs)
[19:30] <JZA> well I want to record live cable, the cable is coaxial (no setup box).
[19:30] <MP0> alright
[19:30] <MP0> so the TV provides a tunor
[19:30] <MP0> *tuner
[19:30] <MP0> and component out?
[19:30] <JZA> yes, VIDEO1 and 2 with component
[19:30] <JZA> on output
[19:31] <MP0> and the OSD input is connected to that?
[19:31] <JZA> then we have on input S-video, HDMI, and Component (RGB) on input
[19:31] <JZA> and on the front another input for coaxial and svideo
[19:32] <JZA> so I got a coaxial going from OSD - to the TV front (input) and I was able to play video with no issues.
[19:32] <MP0> right
[19:32] <JZA> now I put another composite that goes from Video2 (output) to OSD input
[19:33] <JZA> (video1 is the home theatre for 5.1 audio)
[19:33] <MP0> okay... and you're getting static, so that means there's two possibilities:
[19:33] <MP0> 1) the video isn't being outputed or
[19:33] <MP0> 2) the OSD isn't working
[19:33] <JZA> :(
[19:33] <MP0> (I highly doubt 2, but it's always a possibility)
[19:34] <MP0> so the next step is to determine if you're getting your video out
[19:34] <JZA> how can I try that
[19:34] <MP0> well, do you have a VCR you can stick there?
[19:34] <JZA> I got a DVD
[19:34] <JZA> I doubt anyone has a vcr nowadays
[19:34] <MP0> hmm, we need something that will allow us to see the output.
[19:34] <MP0> a 2nd TV would also work
[19:35] <JZA> ok gimme a sec. Will go to the tv room now.
[19:37] <JZA1> back
[19:37] <MP0> k
[19:38] <JZA1> I'll put the dvd output to the neuros
[19:38] <MP0> ah, that's a good idea
[19:38] <MP0> check the 2nd possibility first!
[19:38] <MP0> so you have DVD Player -> OSD -> TV
[19:41] <JZA1> so dvd out goes to osd in and to tv
[19:43] <JZA1> ok i do see video through osd
[19:43] <MP0> try to record.
[19:43] <JZA1> however when i press record both signals get messed up
[19:44] <MP0> you get static?
[19:44] <JZA1> one overlaps
[19:44] <MP0> the OSD overlaps the DVD video?
[19:44] <JZA1> .... a different kind i see both images (dvd n osd) overlaping
[19:44] <JZA1> yes
[19:45] <MP0> It's normal to see the OSD controls overlapping the DVD video
[19:45] <MP0> that will not be recorded.
[19:45] <MP0> and after a few seconds, the controls go away
[19:45] <MP0> after you start the recording
[19:45] <JZA1> well what u mean controls?
[19:45] <MP0> well, you pressed the RECORD button
[19:46] <MP0> and you saw the OSD menus on top of the DVD video, right?
[19:46] <JZA1> i see the whole osd screen
[19:46] <MP0> what did you see after you started the recording?
[19:46] <JZA1> wish i could take a screenshot
[19:47] <MP0> did you manage to record something?
[19:47] <JZA1> no
[19:48] <JZA1> i turned off the dvd cuz i couldn't read the osd interface
[19:48] <JZA1> now i got a msg sayin
[19:48] <JZA1> no input signal detected
[19:49] <JZA1> connect video device to a/v iin port and try again
[19:49] <JZA1> that msg came while playing the dvd on the screen
[19:49] <JZA1> and i press record
[19:51] <MP0> okay
[19:51] <JZA1> ok i think i found the error
[19:52] <JZA1> i had svideo and component at the same time
[19:54] <MP0> ah!
[19:55] <MP0> does recording work well now?
[19:55] <JZA1> kinda... no sound on the output file
[19:56] <MP0> hmm... that's strange.
[19:56] <JZA1> ok will try now with the cable
[19:56] <MP0> but we learned something: can't use s-video and component at the same time
[19:56] <JZA1> yes
[19:57] <JZA1> issue is s-video also carry no sound
[20:01] <JZA1> ok so now i switched from dvd
[20:01] <JZA1> to tv out
[20:01] <JZA1> but got the same issue
[20:01] <JZA1> i will switch to tv out and see what up
[20:03] <JZA1> nada again
[20:04] <JZA1> is the svideo connection an out or in?
[20:08] <JZA1> ok i worked and i am weird out
[20:10] <JZA1> so it worked at a high toll
[20:12] <MP0> a high toll?
[20:12] <MP0> S-Video does not carry sound... you'd still need to use the sound from the component video.
[20:12] <JZA1> yeah i have to dc the video1 (no dvd or surround sound)
[20:13] <JZA1> and put osd in
[20:13] <JZA1> i also have s video dc
[20:14] <MP0> okay
[20:14] <MP0> why doesn't video 2 work?
[20:14] <JZA1> just didn't
[20:15] <MP0> maybe there's a setting in the TV that allows you to choose the output.
[20:18] <JZA1> maybe
[20:19] <JZA1> i will leave it like that since i am recording
[20:19] <JZA1> the oscars
[20:19] <JZA1> :)
[20:19] <JZA1> well half
[20:24] <MP0> :-)
