TechCrunch has a pretty interesting story about rumors of a Google Set-Top Box. It's a pretty interesting concept and something that could be a big opportunity for Neuros.
The rumor is that Google is developing a platform for a set-top box similar to what they are doing with Android for cell phones. The platform itself is not as interesting to me as the concept of what Google's clout could do to connect content with an open source platform. The Status Quo players are all working to keep the content systems closed, and they are greatly aided by the proprietary DRM schemes and the DMCA.
It seems to me that the most helpful thing that Google could do to foster an open platform for set-top boxes would be to broker some meaningful content deals to that system. That would allow innovators like Neuros to create set-top boxes and have a built in content eco-system of sorts to plug into.
