The Free Software Foundation "Defective by Design" campaign

I was recently contacted by the Free Software Foundation, and they are having a "Defective by Design" anti DRM campaign, and are featuring the Neuros, including as giveaways.

Neuros is not a picture perfect  untainted example of free software, but we are delighted for the opportunity to partner with the FSF toward our many shared goals.  We believe that the OSD is very important as an open set top box and one of the first factory delivered open source devices.  Not only is this a strong platform for open source developers, but as a set-top box is also an important free conduit of information to living rooms everywhere.  It's vitally important to freedom of information that there are alternatives to closed, proprietary, walled gardens supplied by the cable and satellite providers.

The FSF folks are the original inventors of the GNU stuff (including the license itself), so it goes without saying they have a huge base of developers that can help not only with the anti DRM campaign, but can help fill in the many proprietary gaps that continue to haunt the Neuros devices.  From open source codecs, to a gcc port for the TI DSPs, the developers capable of developing open source alternatives can be found in the FSF's community.
