Recently, with the expert help of may1937, we got libao and mpd running on the OSD.



The front end of the Music Player looks like the below.  In other words, this is what you see when you want to control your OSD from a remote computer.


Today, working with nerochiaro, we cross-compiled php and can now serve up phpMp (a web-interface for mpd) from the OSD via lighttpd. Combined, these form a complete network music server running entirely from the OSD.



In other words, the OSD can now play music and be controlled by networked PC (or better yet a WiFi PDA).  It's not perfect yet, we had to hack a few things to get them to compile/install/run correctly. But it's looking very promising! A full tutorial will appear on the wiki when we iron out the remaining bugs.
