We've had MPEG-4 Recorders on police motorcycles, racecars, waterproof ones on Kayaks and Windsurfboards, but a MPEG-4 Recorder on a space mission takes the cake. I don't know how you folks find us, but we're sure glad that you do.
The story began a few months back we were contacted by Amin from Sweden with the following request
We are students studying the "Master of Science Programme in Space Engineering" at "Luleå
University of Technology" in Sweden. For our last year project we will
have access to a real sounding rocket that will fly to space and come
back down to earth. Our mission consists of mounting a couple of
wireless cameras and recording equipment on board the rocket and thus
capture different phases of the mission (eg. payload separation) from
different angles.
Because we are space engineers we are going to use a commercial
portable video recorder and adapt it so it works in the harsh and
special environment of the space vacuum. We are hoping for you to donate one
of your "Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 PLUS" to us. Your help
will of course be acknowledged in our final report and we will also
send you the actual video we shot in space and that was recoded with
your product. You can use this footage as you want either in a
commercial or you can upload it on your website. If you wish we may
also send you back the video recorder so you can later analyze it and see how well it performed
during the stress on a rocket and in space.
We wish to find a small and portable digital video
recorder to put on our rocket and shoot up in space while recording.
We believe that your MPEG4 Recorder is exactly what we are looking for and
therefore hope you can help us.
The rocket will be launched from Europe's rocket base "Esrange Space
Center" in northern Sweden, where we live and work right now. The
project is approved and realized together with the Swedish Space
Corporation (SSC) and our university.
Well, I can't wait to get the unit back so I can enter a bug "Device should perform better when launched in a rocket in
